Today is my birthday. I'm a year older and I hope as far as a thrifter goes, a year more wiser. When I was 13 years old my father and I started a tradition where we would head over to our local "big city" of Chico, Calif for the day of my birthday. We would go to thrift stores, used book stores and enjoy lunch at The Burger Hut. It was a dream day for me. I would never had expected a few decades later that I would still be drawn to a similar "perfect day".
This year an antique dealer friend has invited me, my dad and Keiran (home because of spring break) to a storage unit auction. I've never ever been to one so at least this will be something new for me. I can cross it off of my Thrifter's Bucket List. I'm not necessarily going to buy but more to experience this side of thrifting.
Have you ever been to a storage auction before? What's the best item that you've found?
Once a month I attend an estate sale that includes many storage units that someone else has bid on and won. This incredible find above was waiting for me in a box that I had purchased. A hand signed Ripley photograph. So I suppose this is my best find so far. We will see what today holds in store for me.
